Construction & Hardware

Cabinet Standards For Base, Wall, Pantry and Countertop Cabinets

  • Cabinet ConstructionCabinet tops, bottoms, sides, backs, partitions and stretchers are manufactured with premium ¾” prefinished birch plywood. The pre-finished plywood used is manufactured in North America.
  • Totally customized dimensions for width, depth and height. If a base cabinet needs 20 11/16” wide x 30 3/8” high x 23 5/16” deep, then that’s what we’ll manufacture.

Drawer Boxes

  • Drawer BoxesDrawer boxes are manufactured with a dovetail construction using 5/8” solid birch wood. The drawer bottoms are matching plywood in either ¼” or ½” thickness depending on size of drawer and use. This is our standard drawer box but other species of wood can be used instead.
  • The drawer box interiors can be custom fitted with matching solid wood dividers and trays for cutlery, utensils and spices in kitchens. File drawers for a home office. Vanity compartments and U-channel drawers. These features are optional extras.

Interior Shelving

  • ShelvingThese are manufactured in the same material as the rest of the cabinet and can be either fixed or adjustable. Extra shelves can be ordered to maximise cabinet functionality.
  • For display cabinets we use 6mm tempered glass with cushioned shelf supports.

Cabinet Door and Drawer Fronts

  • Cabinet DoorsIn stain grade or paint grade. Various styles using 5-piece construction,  solid wood or wood veneer. 1” to ¾” thick frames depending on design and cabinet construction style.
  • Construction: Frames are mortise and tenon, stick and coped or mitred. Panel mouldings are integrated or applied to frames.
  • Drawer Front Styles: Variations of the door styles with narrower rails for smaller drawers.

End Panels and Gables

  • Upper End PanelWe design our end panels and gables to be more substantial than the standard ¾” thickness as we feel the proportions and strength are better suited to our cabinetry. End panels are 1″, 1 1/4″ or 1 1/2″ thick depending on the design.
  • End panels are designed to match the door style and can be single or multi-paneled.

Light Valances for Wall Cabinets

  • Valance 1These can be visible to match the exterior style or hidden behind a cabinet door.
  • Hidden task lighting is from either Xenon or LED tape lights.
  • Flush fitting LED puck lights are used for visible surface mount lighting.

Interior Cabinet Lighting

  • Flush fitting LED puck lights.

Crowns and Soffits

  • CrownThe majority of crowns are manufactured using a selection of off-the-shelf crown mouldings available from our suppliers. However, we can manufacture them from a semi-custom to full custom design if required.
  • A full custom service is available for shaped cabinetry that requires a curved crown.
  • Can be installed to the ceiling or to whatever height below the ceiling. Any wall, pantry or countertop cabinet can be manufactured to a custom height that suits the crown design.

Kicks

  • KickWe use a separate platform structure (“kick”) to support our cabinets. They are constructed from ¾” spruce plywood in conjunction with a levelling system that’s secured to the floor and wall. This type of structure provides a very strong and level platform for the cabinets to sit upon. They also help when it comes to channeling heat registers, cold air returns and vacuflo components.

Countertops

  • CountertopAll types of natural and manmade stone are sourced from our suppliers.
  • Solid wood, solid surface and laminate countertops are manufactured in-house

Hardware

  • Drawer SlideDrawer slides are soft close undermount with full extension.
  • Door hinges are soft close. These are fully adjustable with an integral mechanism that allows the cabinet door to be switched from a standard to a soft close
  • HingeTraditional exposed hinges are sourced from various suppliers depending on the style and finish required.

Handles, Pulls & Knobs

  • HandleIn our experience these hardware items tend to be of a personal choice for style, finish and location. Due to this reason we do not include them in our quotes as they can vary enormously in price. We have a number of different suppliers and can show our clients what’s available from their catalogues.
